You know, I have heard that on Deep Space Nine the writers wanted to do an episode where an alien disguised himself as a leprechaun and appeared to Chief O’Brien, but his actor (Colm Meany) said No.. I can’t swear he threatened to punch them, but they did rewrite the idea.
(And also a couple of flashbacks to ‘H R Pufinstuf’ and ‘Lidsville’, both of which showed on NZ TV in black and white. I can’t help thinking they lost something as a result…)
They surely lost something in black-and-white. I was disappointed when I could only watch the Krofft shows on the black-and-white set. They read all right, at least; the sets and costumes were designed to appear cleanly enough without color. But without the color there’s more time to focus on thinking about wait, how did Witchiepoo turn Jack into a robot exactly?
Where’s the leprechaun? Shouldn’t he be nearby to keep an eye on his pot o’ gold at the end of the rainbow?

Would’ve been interesting at least. There was a shortage of people getting punched on the later-model Trek shows, really.
