This Week’s Short Nonsense With Words

I’m sorry, I’ve been trying to work out a joke where I propose that if you “conceal” something it means you’re doing something “with seal”, but it turns out that is exactly what it means. And between that and the threat that the heat wave is going to return? I’m feeling all pouty.

(I appreciate your seeing whether last week’s forecast would come true. Please stop in next week when I’ll ponder the cooler months of the year and ask whether December is the time when we take all the Cember out of the room.)

  1. You could use the Con Seal in an Antarctic spoof of “The Sting” or “Mission Implausible”. In other news I suppose this is old news to you but I just read on a retro site that Sid and Marty Krofft had a Disneyland like theme park and one of the rides put visitors into a ball shaped vehicle and shot them into a giant scale pinball machine. I haven’t checked to see if there is any footage of the ride on YouTube yet.

    1. Might just use a Con Seal that way, yes, at least if the rest of the convention doesn’t pan out.

And now that you mention oh yes, I do remember hearing about the Sid and Marty Krofft world. I think the space was, at least in legend, turned into some CNN corporate office space? I don’t remember the pinball thing which you’d think would stick in my mind, though.

There was also a short-lived game show in the 70s where the contestants played this ridiculous giant pinball machine. I think there’s like two episodes known to have survived and one of them’s seen on someone’s TV during Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
