I turned on the 80s music station because look, I try to be interested in things that I wasn’t already interested in when I was fourteen but sometimes I just want to not try, all right? It’s been a rough year and the first really great light is that I’m scheduled for my first vaccination tomorrow afternoon. So this afternoon they were playing The Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated”. It was exactly 24 hours to go until I get my jab.
On the one hand, I would like to speak with whoever’s in charge of my soundtrack because that is trite. On the other hand, what else could fit the scene? Obviously no music I have. But, like, somebody must have done a concept album about overthrowing the dystopia that banned rock music only to have it revealed at the end it was a story about leukocytes fighting off tetanus, right?
All in all you’re just another brick in the immune system wall?

“I Wanna New Drug/theme from Ghostbusters” you’ll also be prepared for when Fred and Steve Allen’s ghosts start slapping you silly to prepare you for the second dose.

Yup, I am not going to have the vaccine. …I am glad for people who do want it, but I’d rather just mask up and take my chances!

Really? You’re taking your chances with people who didn’t start washing their hands after using the bathroom until the pandemic made it unfashionable? I’m aiming to get vaccinated six times over and to cover myself with a half-inch-thick layer of house paint before I go to Jersey Mike’s for lunch.

I wear gloves, have N95 masks, and dont plan not to go out for lunch anyway, as have such serious food allergies. The vaccine risk is too high for my liking.

Well, if you’re allergic you should use a water- or nitrile-based paint rather than latex, yes.

That seems fair. I could use any silly that I can get. Last decent silly I had for myself was mentioning someone who “painted Christmas oranges blue out of his belief that they should rhyme”, which has something going for it that I can’t duplicate if I try.

I am happy to be one, because it turns out bricks keep being more interesting than I ever imagined! (See https://nebushumor.wordpress.com/2020/08/07/some-more-things-to-say-about-the-story-of-brick/ )

I’d like to, but today’s my day for listening to the XMU station on Sirius so that I can be in touch with what the hep kids are all into these days. It seems to be mostly that song about moving to Alaska, but I’m listening in case there’s more.
