The dental hygienist was happy with the way my teeth looked and I sensed I was seconds away from getting another coveted “good at flossing” compliment when their floss snapped and got stuck in my teeth. It’s no fair.

How is it that Gene Deitch never came up with a Popeye cartoon called “To Tell the Tooth” with radioactive spinach bringing self awareness to Pop’s wisdom teeth, and Olive needing to explain to them who Popeye is and why they shouldn’t “jump ship” out of Popeye’s mouth while everyone except Eugene ignores the fact that the dentist’s assistant is a robotic kangaroo?
I can’t believe that was never suggested during the writer pitch meetings.

I can’t say for sure except that kangaroos seem to be under-used in the Popeye cartoons. Not sure what wasn’t appealing about them, in this case, but there’s a real gap there.
It is a little surprising there wasn’t a ‘To Tell The Tooth’ short, though. The title seems so ready for the taking.
