Caption This: Peeking In On … Are They Up To The 25th Century Yet?

Dr Crusher with her face shoved up against kind of giant microscope type device.
Isn’t sickbay a strange place to keep the ship’s periscope?

[ Picard, off-screen: ] Captain’s log, supplemental. We have entered our third day without success getting the superglue off Dr Crusher’s medical scanner.

Meanwhile over on my mathematics blog, I’ve had another chance to talk about comic strips. Mostly Popeye. Also I’ve got through the first week of the Leap Day 2016 Mathematics A To Z project, a glossary of mathematics terms written in a way I hope makes sense to non-mathematicians. Please, consider enjoying.

  1. The scanner will unlock when you give us your handy number, master card or visa number, and maiden name of mother, then sing Frozen wearing a costume and with a shoe on your head.

    1. Oh, wait, I know some of these. Her mother’s maiden name would be Howard, based on the episode that totally exists where Dr Crusher has ghost sex with a candle. No, really.

You know Dr Crusher’s actor was a respected choreographer before getting into this whole science fiction business.

    1. I am indeed interested. I’ve enjoyed the New Continuity movies, not least because they seem to have been made with some energy and interest. But they feel more space-opera to me than the space-western of the Original Series and that’s a subtle but important shift. I imagine the new series will stick with the changed tone and while that’s probably going to be thrilling, it isn’t going to fit quite the same niche.
